*THE PROBLEMS WITH ROAMING*
*No Opt-In: Cellular carriers are not required to inform subscribers when they are roaming. As such, most travelers roam without ever approving the rates.
*Bill Shock: Roaming and international calling charges surprise unsuspecting travelers when they return home. Bills over $1,000/week are not uncommon.
*No Affordable Options: Roaming is always an expensive option. Even with prepaid roaming plans, data rates quickly soar to over $1/MB for data or $3/minute for voice whenever you exceed a cap.
*THE PROBLEMS WITH SKYPE*
*Uses Precious Data: When traveling abroad, its ideal to save your data for web browsing and apps like email, maps, and social media. Whenever you rely on Skype to communicate, you eat into this precious data allowance.
*Phone Tag: Because Skype users often do not have the app open or arent near a stable WiFi connection, missed calls are more common. Brutal phone tag ensues.
*All Your Contacts Have to Use Skype: Whether Skype, Viber, WhatsApp or any other communication platform, platforms require both parties (caller and contact) to be registered users. As such, try calling your cousin whos never heard of Skype.
*HOW OUR SOLUTION WORKS*
1a. Select from one of our inexpensive SIM card options and well mail you the activated foreign SIM card (local to your destination). We can mail it to your home in Canada or your destination in the States.
1b. Alternatively, bring your own or buy your own American SIM card when you arrive at your destination.
2. Remove the domestic SIM card from your iPhone device and replace it with the foreign SIM card once you have arrived at your destination.
3. Open up the RoamFree app and validate the telephone number of the foreign SIM via SMS.
4. Import your contacts (up to 50 at a time) into the RoamFree app.
5. For each contact you import, RoamFree assigns a local number in the country youre visiting to each of your contacts.
6. When you are ready to phone your contact, simply tap their name in your contact list in the RoamFree app.
Youll notice that despite dialing a local number, you are in fact reaching your contact abroad. Theyll notice a number local to them for their incoming call, meaning its a local call for each of you without any roaming or long distance fees hampering your experience.
7. Your contact can call back the number that dialed them and trigger the whole thing in reverse, leaving you readily available to take phone calls abroad, all without wasting a KB of your precious data.
